I wouldn't mind a guidebot mod for D3. Do you know a way how i can make my guidebot attack robots?

It is for Descent3.
Fox1 is building a level with Egyptian features, and it would be nice to have an Egyptian looking guidebot in the level. Only the oof I think, not the AI. This custom guidebot is still meant to guide players.

Maybe this way:

Copy the orginal GB gam entry to your mission.hog
Change the oof-name from Buddybot.oof to 'YourBuddy'.oof inside your new GB-Entry

Look into the GB oof for the animations and give your new GB.oof the same animation frames.
Could be neccessary because the GB-AI uses animation frames. I don't know what will happen if your custom bot is made without them. You should try that out.

For sure the new one needs the gun point(s?) and batteries inside its oof too.

Atan,

I know you are a busy person so I will just give you an update.

I am still building my first descent level which now has 43 rooms some custom egyptian textures, five keys and a script which makes it playable. I have made lots of construction errors such that some portal faces do not match and I have made holes in the terrain that I cannot get rid of but although the BOA is invalid it still works.

Thanks for your advice but I do not know how to copy the guide bot gam entry into my mission hog?

I do not have oofeditor and I am running Widows 7 64bit.

I downloaded aloof but haven't a clue how to make it work so that I can follow any of the online tutorials.

Please excuse my ignorance but can you lead me more gently through this task.

I believe you misunderstand something here.
The GAM entry isn't an oof at all.
For this task you do not need an oof-editor, you need the gam-tool to made this.

If you'll own it, you may open the D3.gam (you know how to extract the de.gam from the d3.hog?) and search for the guidebot (entry) there. Then copy this entry and paste it into your already open your-level-gam. Then you should edit the filename.oof to your -custom guidebot oof- filename there. Then place that your-level-gam as usual into your mission hog.
Sure you need your own guidebot-oof inside this mission hog too then.

Or did you ask about how to make a custom bot oof?
