just got here and wanted to distribute a little thing:

Descent 1. the best 360 Shooter i know.

allthough descent 3 was the first game i ever owned, i still got my hands on the original 2 years ago.

not the nice grafics,damn hell faster,much more confusing and confusing level maps:

the perfect game, and no matter how old, it still is a nice game to play.

I believe that neither Descent 1 nor Descent 2 are free. So, yes, I think that downloading from the links you provided is actually illegal.
I hope the server hoster won't get in trouble for that.

As Mzero mentioned, you're probably best off by getting the Rebirth extension. It too tells you that you need the full version of Descent which you can download from GOG.

Why is this Rebirth not included in the download?
That'd make it a lot easier, tho.

As far as I remember there were originally two reasons why Descent 1 and Descent 2 Rebirth are not in the Descent 3 installer package.

The first one was that Rebirth doesn't support a particular key assignment for the game. I'm not sure right now, but I believe to remember that it was the left ALT key.

The second reason was that you'd need a Descent 1 & 2 license additionally to make the package legal again.

I can also think of a third reason: Rebirth installs very easily. I'd say it doesn't take more than 5 minutes maximum even for unskilled computer users if you follow the installation instructions.

With these in mind, I wouldn't want to include Descent 1 and 2 in our Descent 3 installer.

The PSP version looks cool. I tried to get it working myself before, but I must have done something wrong. I'll try that link when I get home tonight. (I already own the game).

I use D2X-XL to run both D1 and D2 (in the same program). It's not such a hassle to install anymore (it has a self-extractor program that automatically rearranges the files into its folder structure). I have not had any crashes or bugs in the latest version (1.15.35 as of this post).

And BTW - D2 is my favourite Descent.

It sure does look cool, but is it really playable on that little device.

I'm having enough trouble playing the game on a PC.
