FileZilla is a very handy and free FTP client, probably the best out there. One of its features is to provide an option to remember the passwords used for FTP connections.  It goes without saying that the passwords are stored encrypted.

But what if you need to retrieve one of them again?

For that purpose, Andrea Giammarchi has developed the Filezilla Password Recover software. He offers it for free.

The application FileZilla Password Recover can decrypt and display passwords stored by the FTP client FileZilla.

Copy an encrypted password from the FileZilla XML configuration file or, in  case of older FileZilla versions, from the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FileZilla\Site Manager). Then paste these characters into the entry field of FileZilla Password Recover.

Click on SEARCH and see the password in clear text.

Installation

The software doesn't need to be installed. Just download the executable file FileZilla_PR from Andrea's homepage and place it in a folder on your hard drive or any removable media.
