Sorry for the authoritative tone, but I want to make sure there are no misunderstandings.
I know there are many talented artists in the Descent community so I figure this is a good place to start.
I need art for the front cover of my Splintered Sanity Ultra EP, which I will be selling at my university, come September to raise money for cleanup of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The person who makes this art will get a free copy of the album. My friends who have heard this say that this is, by far, my best work yet, and I've taken the advice that Scyphi gave me in response to Operation Otter.
I need to have this art by September.
This is what I need for the cover art:
All six Descent II Counterstrike boss robots, arranged in a 3D wedge formation, i.e. one boss in front, two on the left side, two on the right side, and one on top.
OR
One boss in front, two on the left side, one on the right side, one on the bottom, and one on top (switching left and right is okay.)
In either case, there needs to be room above and below the boss formation for my name (musician alias) and the album title.
The boss Arrangement:
The Alien 2 boss must be the one in front.
The Alien 1 boss should be closest to the Alien 2 boss, on the left side of the cover (to the right of the Alien 2 boss).
The red fatty boss must be the one on top, and should be the farthest from the front.
The Ice Boss, Water Boss, and Fire Boss can be arranged however the artist likes.
The Background:
The background should be black based (very dark blue would be okay as well). Two ideas I have are stars and nebulae, or a grid of red or green lasers (one colour). But if the artist can come up with something better, I'm all for it, as long as the background is black or very dark blue.
As for the back cover:
I will do this myself... probably a screenshot of a Boarshed or a Diamond Claw I'll take in D2X-XL in a specially built level.
The artist will get credit for his or her work on the back cover.
This post has been reposted on several other boards.

Since my image editing skills are anything but brilliant, I'd try to create the scene in "reality".
I don't know how feasible my idea is. It would definitely work for Descent 3.
Create a room/level with the background you'd like to have, or use something that can be overwritten easily later. Place the bosses and turn their AI off. Take a nice screenshot.
A CD cover is not very big. I guess it doesn't need to be a hi-res image. The screenshot should be ok, if you can switch off all visible cockpit elements inside the game.
I know my idea sounds like a joke, but I'm serious.

All the music is done. I still haven't got a response from Interplay regarding the D2 bosses, so I'm changing this a little.
Anyone can submit anything that they think would fit the title "Splintered Sanity". The one that I think is best will be featured on the CD cover, and the artist will recieve a free (digital) copy of the album.
The second best will go on the back cover and its artist will also recieve a digital copy of the album.
Xaihyv has already come up with an awesome idea for CD artwork... to make the CD look like a cloaking device. The best part is I can probably do that myself.
And BTW Thomas - I already did that once when I mocked up a soundtrack cover for AOH... I used a screen of one of the torches. I know it would work, I had just wanted some original modifications to the bosses... so they weren't just copies.
Anyway it doesn't matter now. It seems by the time Interplay will get around to responding I will have already released this .

I hate to tell you that I tried to contact Interplay on several things too but never got a response.
I do have the feeling that whatever contains the word "Descent" they just ignore or delete.

May I ask what you wanted from them?
Curiosity never killed anyone... well except the cat.
BTW Metalbeast (of D2X-XL modelling fame) has made a great (and completely original) front cover.

Yes, you guessed right.
That's what I wanted from them.

Nice. Now I'm curious and would like to have a glimpse.

It's on his forums.
http://3d-get.de/metalbeast/forum/index.php
In the User Gallery section, go to the last post.
In other news, I changed my musician pseudonym to Vertigo Fox, as non-descent players won't get the diamond claw reference.
In completely unrelated news, I unlocked Vertica (white run) and Fort Gale (black run) in WipEout Pulse today. I'm still working my way through that game... slowly. (It's really fun, but I don't have much time to play PSP games).
