Better use the latest version you can get here. You wont have to extract sounds and install the scripts compiler later. Everything will be ready.
Check the path to your Descent 3 directory in the editor settings :
Open your level in the D3Edit.
In the Quicktest bar, first use the "Quicktest" :
Create a new profile with "New" and name it with your mission name :
Let the .mn3 name default :
You will find later that file in the folder where you save it, in the "missions" folder. It will be in the first files because the file name begins with a "_", so you wont have to browse all missions files to find it. Later, when you will release your mission, you will change the file name as you like when you save it.
Let the mission name default :
You will find this name in the mission list of the game after you save your mission. It will be in the first names of the missions list because it starts with a "!!!". Later when you release your mission, you will change the mission name when you save it.
Even if you are building an anarchy level, tick the "singleplayer" to be able to test your mission in singleplayer.
Tick "generate msn".
Save your .mn3 file in your "missions" folder :
You can also "Save as" a copy of your mission in an other place, but there must be one in the "missions" folder.
In the Quicktest bar, use now "Editor" :
Open your mission file in the "Open hog file" :
You will see the .msn file you asked the D3Edit to create :
Insert your .d3l file (the level has to be open in the editor to do that) :
You will see your d3l file written under the msn file now.
The saved file will ovewrite the previous .mn3 file, and there will be your level inside now.
You have to insert your level in the msn file. Push the "Edit MSN" button :
Add your level :
Push the "Quicktest!" button and answer "yes" :
The game will start.
Select you mission in the list, with the name "!!! A Quicktest Mission", and fly in your level.
