Descent3 Editor, in short D3Edit.
D3Edit is the level and mission editor for Descent 3. This tool is a must-have if you intend to create your own missions or fighting places.
This freeware editor has nearly everything that's needed to build your custom Descent3 single-player and multi-player missions.
Descent3 levels are based on rooms which you may construct from scratch or load preassembled.
If you build from scratch, the Descent3 Editor will assist you with lots of base shapes which you can modify easily.
Rooms are build out of faces which you can texture with a lot of stock textures or your custom ones. Inserting lights into your level will bring the gaming athmosphere, so the inbuild Lighting generator offers a wide range of variations for this task. Inserting live into your level is done by preassambled objects like robots, weapons, clutter, buildings, doors and sounds. Sure all these things inside Descent3 are able to be customized and to be inserted into your missions then.
To support the gameplay, gameflow there is a visual scripting tool inside the Descent3 Editor which make it easy to insert life by mouseclicks. You don't need to learn any compiler or programming language.
An other integrated tool will collect all the things you want to have inside your missions and put them together so you can play your missions. Of course the Descent3 Editor will help you to edit other Descent 3 missions, levels and rooms too.
It will take some time to learn this Editor. It's a complex one. Don't think you will build a good level in one hour or just by one key stroke. But once the learning phase is over, with all its mighty tools inside, construction of a Descent3 mission with the Descent3 Editor is just a matter of your fantasy and time. Try it out.
