One of the hard to find gems for Descent 3 is the Descent 3 Mission Browser by Lex. This tool lets you select a Descent 3 mission file (mn3 file) out of your game's 'missions' directory and then displays important information about it. One of the most annoying things is when you download a mission file and then don't know what it shows up as in the game. The Descent 3 Mission Browser takes care of this. Just look at the 'Name' field and you'll know how to start the mission inside Descent 3.
The software can also be used to check whether the download links provided in the mission file are working. (See Providing Download Links For Hosted Missions on how that can be useful for server hosters.) Installation instructions: Put the file d3msninfo.exe in a folder of your choice (preferably in your Descent 3's game root folder (the folder where main.exe resides) and start it.
