2009-10-18: The latest version of Pyromania for Descent 3 is 1.5.1, but the filenames haven't changed. The new version is incompatible with earlier releases. The recommended installation method is to use the installation program, but a plain zip file is also available.

The new installer contains Pyromania version 1.5 and Vortex in one package. It also includes StartSP to launch the mod, which makes it use the registry settings of Descent 3 rather than a plain batch file.

• Installs Pyromania 1.5.
• Finds Descent 3's installation folder.
• Automatically removes remains from previous versions to avoid inconsistencies and server/client incompatibilities.
• Installs StartSP to invoke the mod without removing the batch file option.
• Finds and configures an existing version of Vortex.
• Optionally installs Vortex completely.

Pyromania is quite a nice extension for Descent 3. It introduces both, a new game type and a new "way of experiencing Descent 3".

The game type is a modified anarchy version. In a standard game, almost all weapons are replaced with different versions, and Pyromania offers several new ships in addition to the already known ones.
