Descent 3 - Descent 3 dedicated server tool for Windows

The latest version of D3Server3 can correct download links in hosted Descent3 servers if they are covered by the Download Link Surgery 2007 or any newer version of it.

This works by extracting the msn file that's embedded in a Descent 3 mission file (.mn3) into the game's main folder. The msn file contains URLs that point to the zip archive with the mission file. When servers are hosted and submitted to the trackers those files can be easily downloaded, for example with Vortex.

Since many of these embedded msn files point to online resources that don't exist anymore D3Server3 can correct outdated links.

All you need for this to work is the latest version of D3Server3, which you can get from here.

D3Server3 contains a file with all updated mission download links and provides them in an msn file whenever the dedicated Descent3 server is hosted (started).

This does not work with server configurations that have been set up already.

For existing server configurations you need to edit them, click in the mission combobox, select a different mission, and then pick the mission you had originally again. As soon as you click Ok the msn file is extracted for this server configuration too. This means the file will be extracted when the server is started and players can enjoy the correct download links.

Missions of newly created server configurations automatically get their download links fixed.
