After the installation of Descent 3 off the installation CDs you might think there's nothing that can separate you from a nice and quick game. Wrong.

Without any patches, you're being faced the game's registration wizard. Even if you would like to register to get rid of this wizard, you can't. The game's online resources are not available anymore. It is not possible to register.

Although you can forfeit the registration, this can become quite annoying after several invocations.

Here's an easy way to "skip" the registration:

• Locate Descent 3's main directory (by default C:\Games\Descent3 or C:\Program files\Descent 3) and look for a folder called "ereg".
• Remove that folder "ereg" entirely by deleting it, including all of its contents.

Now you won't be asked to register for an impossible registration again and can enjoy a quick game without hassle.

Note that this is just a quick solution to the problem. It is still vital that you upgrade to version 1.4.

Anyway, even if you intend to upgrade to Descent 3 version 1.4, delete the folder "ereg" and its contents. It is not required to run the game.

If you donwload and install the Descent 3 setup program from Dateiliste the problem does not occur. You still need to own a legal copy of Descent 3 for this, but you don't have to install it off its installation CDs, hence it won't ask you for the registration.
