There's not much to explain about this level despite that it's probably the first level most Descent 3 players have ever completed or at least started. The story plays on Deimos in the Data Retention Center.

It's pretty easy to complete on trainee and quite difficult on insane, which is more or less the same as for most other Descent 3 single-player/co-op missions.

Gamespot have compiled an introduction to Descent 3. This could be a good reference manual if it only had a table of contents of some sort, since it explains all weapons, ships, robots, and missions. It also contains a walkthrough of level 1 of Descent 3 (spoilers inside). If you click in the page once and then press CTRL-A to select all text, you can even read it when you're not colour blind.

Descent 3: Retribution level 1 can also be played in co-op (co-operative mode) and in anarchy. Set to the insane difficulty level, it's also possible to get quite some fun out of it in robo-anarchy. it is not suitable for most of the other game types like CTF etc.
