Inside Descent 3, on the Muliplayer page, you can enter an IP address and a port number to join running game servers.
The game does not support IP names, only addresses. It further does not allow copy and paste, forcing you to write down the data and then enter it manually.
This is where the Descent 3 Direct IP Launcher comes in handy.

The Descent 3 Game Tracker Publisher is a small and handy application to create and edit the file Gamespy.cfg. This file tells Descent 3 what game trackers to contact and publish running servers.
You can easily select the server's location (region) and choose at what game services your server should be made public so that other players will be able to find it.

Are you short of a proper FTP client? In this case, FileZilla is the right choice.
It's free, and it can do things otherwise only commercial FTP clients do.

CamStudio is a software to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files, and using its built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs). As if this wasn't enough, it's free, and its source code is available.

CamStudio is a "must have" for creating tutorials and demo videos. The software can be downloaded from its homepage.

For an installation program I wanted to give the user an option to automatically scan for a particular file on his hard drive or maybe only in a subtree of a drive.
A search through the Inno Setup newsgroups brings up several posts to discourage people to do so. It is understandable, because network and local drives could contain several million files or a similar amount of folders. It could take hours to read the directory tree in and search for a single file. The reasonable alternative is to find the file through other clues like registry entries.
However, the location of the file my installation program is supposed to look for is stored nowhere. The software saves its settings in a Windows ini file, and this file resides just next to the executable file in the same folder.
