With the latest version of the installation program for Pyromania and Vortex it is now possible to use Vortex's cleaning function for downloaded ship logos and audio taunts. The installer adds all Pyromania sounds and graphics to Vortex's exception list for file removals.

Note: You don't need to download and install Pyromania or Vortex if you install the full version of Descent 3 from Dateiliste. Our version includes both additions already and configures them automatically for you.

Not only did I install it in the wrong place, I even was not able to configure Vortex correctly without Do_Checkor's help. The additional fact that Pyromania resisted to read my command line switches from the registry and rather preferred a batch file instead encouraged me finally to do something about it.

I created a new installer for the Pyromania mod.

Pyromania is quite a nice extension for Descent 3. It introduces both, a new game type and a new "way of experiencing Descent 3".

The game type is a modified anarchy version. In a standard game, almost all weapons are replaced with different versions, and Pyromania offers several new ships in addition to the already known ones.

The new installer contains Pyromania version 1.5 and Vortex in one package. It also includes StartSP to launch the mod, which makes it use the registry settings of Descent 3 rather then a plain batch file.

• Installs Pyromania 1.5.
• Finds Descent 3's installation folder.
• Automatically removes remains from previous versions to avoid inconsistencies and server/client incompatibilities.
• Installs StartSP to invoke the mod without removing the batch file option.
• Finds and configures an existing version of Vortex.
• Optionally installs Vortex completely from scratch.
• Adds the Pyromania sounds and graphics to Vortex's exception list so that its cleaning function can be used safely.
